How to Set a Galentine’s Brunch Table

To begin planning a festive tablescape, start with something that inspires you and build from there.

For this tablescape, there were actually two items that inspired the table setting.

First, the sweet floral embroidered tablecloth & napkins that I recently found at a Flea Market. And then, these lovely botanical plates with a sweet pink rim. They were only 50 cents each, and I immediately knew they would be perfect for the Galentine’s Table.

Galentine’s Brunch Thrifted Milk Glass Centerpiece

Next, it was time to decide on the centerpiece. Because I have a good collection of Vintage Milk Glass bud vases, I decided they would be perfect filled with some soft touch pink tulips.

Three different style vases were gathered on a Milk Glass Cake Plate, surrounded by a eucalyptus candle ring. In addition, vintage butter pat plates, ceramic birds & moss balls were gathered to create a sweet centerpiece.

Even the buffet table is filled with milk glass, tulips, and a thrifted cross-stitched piece to add more of a cottagecore aesthetic to the screened porch party.

How To Set a Thrifted Place Setting

Here is a look at the thrifted and vintage place setting for the Galentine’s brunch.

First, the oversized plates serve as chargers and are stacked with a vintage ironstone dinner plate. Next are the thrifted botanical salad plates, which are topped with a vintage clear appetizer plate.

I wanted to avoid covering the beautiful pattern on the salad plates, so the vintage glass plates were a perfect choice.

The Brunch Table Lighting

Instead of placing candles on the table, floating candles were added to the DIY Light Fixture. These fun water-activated candles float in the hanging cups. I filled the cups with red food-colored water for a festive Valentine’s feel.

Budget-Friendly Brunch Tablescape Planning

Because I love to entertain, I’m always on the lookout for new items to use to create festive table settings.

If you keep your eyes open for unique tableware, you don’t have to spend much money to create a fun and festive table.

You will notice that almost everything used for this tablescape is either thrifted or a DIY project. Even the glassware and silverware are from a thrift store. To sweeten the table, I found these pink champagne flutes for only 50 cents at Habitat ReStore.

If you can’t find pink champagne flutes, look for clear flutes and tie a pink ribbon around the stems for a touch of romance.

Thrifted Place Card Holders

These cheap thrift store glass vases are filled with Valentine’s Candy and are repurposed as fun place card holders. Each placeholder, including candy, costs less than $2.50 to make. They are a sweet treat for the guest to take home at the end of the brunch.

Two DIY Galentines Brunch Table Ideas

You don’t have to scrimp on style to save money with these easy DIY Galentine’s Brunch table ideas.

First, you can easily make place cards using card stock. It’s easy to cut a heart shape, attach a long toothpick (with hot glue), and add each guest’s name.

Use the toothpick to hold the heart in the candy-filled jar.

DIY Chair Charms

In addition, I decided to decorate the chairs with a fun, romantic chair charm.

For this project, use inexpensive heart doilies from Dollar Tree to create pockets. Place two hearts together in a fan shape, and use hot glue to adhere. Repeat for the backside. Place the two sets together and use glue along the sides and bottom, leaving the top open.

Then add a length of red ribbon and hot glue to easily form a hanging pocket.

Just fill the pocket with lightweight florals. Simple baby’s breath was an inexpensive option and didn’t compete with the tulips. One inexpensive bundle from the grocery store filled all the pockets.

Hang the pockets on the back of each chair. You can also gift the chair charms to your guests if you choose.

Now, the Galentine’s brunch table is ready for the guests to arrive.
