Who do I contact during power and gas outages?

For emergencies, if you can smell gas or if someone’s life or house is in danger – call000immediately.

For electricity blackouts or gas outages, contact your local distributor. Your distributor owns and maintains the energy network in your area and can give you information about what’s happening and when the service can be restored.Enter your postcode to find your distributor.

How do I connect electricity and gas?

Whether you’re moving house or you’ve just collected the keys to your new home, we can help get your electricity and natural gas connection set up in no time. If you’re new to Origin, head to ourplans pageto check out our current energy offers. If you’re already with Origin, book your move online usingMy Accountor over at ourMoving page. How do I read my meter or track energy usage?

Smart meterssend data to us automatically.Basic metersare read by a meter reader every 2–3 months.

Have you received an estimated bill or seen the option tosubmit a self-meter readin your account? This means you have a basic gas or electricity meter and may be eligible to submit your own reads.Follow these steps to read your meterand send your data straight to us to get a bill issued or see your current cost and usage.

Estimated billsusually come about if we’ve had trouble accessing your meter. They’re usually based off your previous reads, not your most recent data. You cansubmit a self-meter read(up to 14 working days after you’ve been issued the estimated bill) and share your actual usage with us – and we’ll reissue your bill.

Keen to know how much energy you’re using? There are a few ways totrack your energy usage. The easiest way to view your usage is to log on toMy Accountor theOrigin app. You can also see your energy usage on the first page of your bill. Here’s some help with reading your bill.

How do I update account details or make changes?

New to Origin? You can get your account set up in no time.Register for My Accountanddownload the app, then follow the steps to log in using the email address linked to your account. From there, you’ll be able to view and manage all of your Origin services.

Need to change your phone number/s, postal address, email address or edit your date of birth? You canupdate your contact details onlinein My Account orget in touchwith our team. You can also add ajoint account holderortransfer your electricity and gas services to another person.

Most of our energy bills have gone paperless, but if you haven’t already made theswitch to email bills, justchange your contact setting in My Account. You can also opt toswitch to monthly billingif you’d like.

What are bundle offers?

“Bundle” offers refer to discounts Origin offers when you have more than one Origin product. When you bundle your Origin electricity and/or natural gas and/or hot water or centralised energy plan(s) and/or LPG plan(s) with your Origin home broadband plan, you’ll save $10/month. The bundle offer is only available to residential customers who take up an offer to bundle their energy plan(s) with internet. Learn more about bundling your energy and internet with Origin.

How to bundle your Origin energy plan(s) with an internet plan

Simply head toCompare Plansand browse what we have on offer. Select the energy plan that best suits your needs. You’ll need to enter your personal details including your name, address and email address. During the sign-up process, you’ll be prompted to add an internet plan. After you’ve chosen your internet plan, you’ll see the ongoing $10 saving automatically applied to your cart.

^No lock-in contract or exit fees

Origin’s residential energy plans do not have a minimum lock-in contract period or exit fees.

+Next day electricity connection: Origin’s Move Promise

Book your move online on a weekday before 1 pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) for next business day electricity connections. Or you canclaim up to $100(incl GST) per day in credit until your energy is connected. Outside of this time, or for same day connections, call us on13 MOVE(13 66 83). Please note, natural gas connections can take up to 3 business days.
