Community Comparison of Crime

This crime database allows users to view local crime trends and compare them to those of other areas in North Carolina as well as areas across the country.

The map on the right side of the screencategorizes metropolitanareas by color, each of which represents a different relationship to national crime averages.

Users can view a general crime summary or they can refine their results to either violent or property crimes. Whichever option is selected will populate the box left of the map with a specific breakdown of crimes in the selected area.

Below the map and summary box, users can see graphs and charts displaying the selected area and types of crime in a year-by-year comparison.

Storm Tracker

With hurricane season upon us, many may be curious about the status of incoming or ongoing storms and hurricanes, all of which can be tracked on the storm tracker database.

On this database, users can view current storm patterns and weather advisories for anywhere in the United States, as well as hurricane patterns and forecasts dating back to 1851.

The database features two different maps, one that displays selected time frames and storm patterns, and another that allows users to view storm statistics from a number of different data models

Election Results

The election results database is one of several political databases on data central and it allows users to view election results from different political races on the many different levels of government.

In this database, users can select their specific area, as well as specific government elections, from local board of education elections to presidential election results with everything in between.

Unemployment Rate

During the COVID-19 pandemic unemployment rates skyrocketed; the unemployment rate database allows users to track these rates on the state and county level, and compare them with states and counties across the country.

The map at the top of the database uses a color-coded system that allows users to view unemployment rates in selected states or counties.

Below the map, users can view statistics and trends, along with how these rates stack up to related areas and state averages.

North Carolina Gridlock Guide

The gridlock guide database allows users to take a look at current traffic situations across North Carolina as well as within several other U.S. states.

Below the map, users can select a statewide view or a more specific area view of where there is currently construction, road closures or traffic blocks.

This database also features a handful of live video feeds from traffic cameras in N.C. and across the country.

Coronavirus Map

The data central features several COVID-19 related databases, including a vaccine tracker, curve comparisons and a map of current infections.

The coronavirus map database allows users to view the current number of infections in areas all over the United States. Users can select specific areas from the map and view the number of active and confirmed cases, as well as the number of COVID-19 deaths from each area.

Below the map, the database features a chart comparing COVID-19 cases, deaths and recovery numbers from countries worldwide.
