Established by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (“TWGHs”) in 2010, Tung Wah College (TWC) is a self-financing degree-granting institution registered under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap.320). DutiesThe Assistant Laboratory Manager (ALM) manages all the teaching laboratories in the School of Medical Sciences (MHS). Currently the School offers the following degree programmes: Biomedical Science, Forensic Biomedical Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Radiation Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and a Higher Diploma in Health Science. The ALM is the overall supervisor of technical staff working in MHS laboratories (Technical Officers/Assistant Technical Officers). He/she reports to the Dean/Laboratory Director of MHS. The ALM coordinates all the laboratory support for the School’s teaching activities. His/her areas of responsibilities include but not limited to the followings:

• Manage MHS procurement functions;
• Manage laboratory and MHS facilities safety;
• Act as MHS Safety Officer;
• Manage MHS laboratory equipment utilization and operation;
• Coordinate other non-technical functions of the School as assigned by the Dean/Lab Director e.g. lab visits, IT WORKS, site works contractors liaison etc.;
• Assignment of duties to the Technical Officers/Assistant Technical Officers on consultation with the Dean/Lab Director;
• Training of technical staff, lab users, research assistants on lab safety. equipment use etc.;
• Provide regular reporting on the MHS lab operations to the Dean/Lab Director;
• Any other duties as assigned by the Dean/Lab Director.

RequirementsApplicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science and at least 5 year working experience as a senior technical staff in a tertiary institution with sound knowledge of chemical, biological and physical safety enforcement in teaching labs. Skills and expertise in medical equipment utilization/maintenance will be a distinct advantage.

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
